I enjoy the challenge that designing a website poses. I'm always pleased when I pull layout, colours and type together to make a good looking and easy to use website.

On the technical side, I'm a fan of web standards, semantic markup and accessible design. This is great for everything from mobile browsing to search engine optimisation, and a fair few things in between.

The CD and Record Library is a student run service of Nottingham University. They have about 8000 CDs available for members to borrow. I also volunteer on their committee!

The previous incarnation of the website was pretty dated, in terms of design as well as content. The static nature of the site made it pretty hard for the non-web-minded to keep up to date.

As well as a swanky new design, the new CD Library website has a content management system that allows easy updates to things like the recent purchases list. I also re-wrote the CD search function to improve results.

At the moment, we're working hard on a fully featured online library catalogue, so watch this space for further changes!

Senescence

Senescence came about as an idea when for a brief moment I decided I was going to take a photo a day for 365 days. The photos never got taken, but the website got built, and I still intend to keep it updated often.

As a showcase for photos the design needed to be clean, with the photograph as the focus. I created a light and a dark colour scheme to allow the picture to be placed on the background that suited it best.

Rather than use a pre-existing content management system for this project, I built a custom lightweight back-end for this project.

Some guy called Ollie Brown wanted a website, so I kindly obliged. A home for me on the internet, I wanted this website to act as a place to showcase my design and coding projects as well as point to my other outlets onto the internet.
